Arts Walk: Diana Fairbanks

Arts Walk Pick 2018

by Alec Clayton for OLY ARTS

Art lovers should have little trouble finding Diana Fairbanks’ paintings, as she is showing in multiple venues in this spring’s Arts Walk.

Fairbanks is well-known locally for her paintings of iconic regional scenes, including a giant donut floating down the Deschutes River recently shown at South Puget Sound Community College. She also had a large showing of river paintings at the Washington State Department of Ecology. These were part of her quest to paint all the rivers in Washington. She says she’s halfway through with the project.

Fairbanks is a classically-trained artist and former scientific illustrator who now paints landscapes and selected still-life subjects. She shows her work regionally as well as being in collections in China, Italy, England, Canada and Mexico.

At Gravity Yoga, she will show some of her large river paintings completed within the last two years. Showing with her will be other artists who have worked with her at her studio, OlyImages, including Kay Guest and Dorthea Paulson. At Blackbird Mercantile, she will show paintings completed while in Sienna, Italy this past October.
