Entertainment at Lacey Fireworks Spectacular

BBQ, Bands, and Family Fun at Rainier Vista Park

by TOM SIMPSON

On Tuesday, July 3, the City of Lacey hosts a pre-Fourth-of-July family event at Rainier Vista Park. The entertainment lasts from 4 p.m. until after the fireworks at 11 p.m. The afternoon and evening includes an oversized inflatable bounce house and slide for children, a live-action trampoline show, nationally-ranked country singers with a local connection, as well as a Top 40 cover band that plays into the evening. Food vendors are on site, and families are encouraged to pack a picnic.

A complete schedule of all events can be found at the Lacey Fireworks Spectacular site.

Details on the entertainment are listed below:

Extreme Trampoline

This 3-man show uses 2 trampolines and a giant 14 foot transparent wall to create a synchronized show with Olympic routines that includes use of skis, snowboards and much more.

Team “Flippenout” employs a number of professional athletes who add comedic notes to their routines as they fly up to 25 feet in the air and perform flips, twists and acrobatic moves, including heart-stopping belly drops.

The group has previously performed at halftime shows and other events for the NFL, NBA, NCAA, fairs, and many festivals. The “Extreme Trampoline” show will be on stage at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Fraternal Harmony

Hometown brothers Isaac and Luke Olson kick off Lacey in Tune this summer with an early-evening set that reverberates with country-pop-songwriting prowess.

Originally from Olympia, the duo won the Battle of the Bands at Capital Lakefair in 2013 and also a national songwriting contest for their song “Sunrise.”

Today, the brothers have a heavy tour schedule and play at country-music festivals and many other venues. They’ve opened for High Valley, Sammy Kershaw, Justin Moore and Craig Morgan.

Addicted to Modern Pop Hits

Late evening for the July 3 kickoff of Lacey in Tune will feature Funaddicts, a band that provides cover arrangements for nearly a century of popular music. Featuring the often-pink-haired Katie Rose on guitar alongside Bob Seeley on keyboards, it’s rounded out by Mike Johnson on drums and Mike Langdon on lead guitar.

All four versatile players sing vocals, depending on the genre and song style, and their harmonies get audiences up and dancing. Funaddicts cover nearly every style of popular music imaginable, from Glenn Miller to Bruno Mars and everything in between, including ’50s golden oldies, disco hits, ’90s party rock and today’s top-40 hits.
