Lyle Lovett Returns to the Washington Center with John Hiatt

By Lucy Volker

Legendary musicians Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt will be performing together at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts this February. “Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt are both outstanding singer-songwriters in their own right. Their lyrics and musicality is authentic and entertaining. To hear them performing together in a venue as intimate as the Washington Center for the Performing Arts is truly a musical gift that will be remembered for a long time,” says Jill Barnes, Executive Director. Lovett’s engaging performance last year with Robert Earl Keen, sold out the Washington Center. His reputation promises another captivating performance, with another esteemed colleague.

An Acoustic Evening will highlight the softer qualities of Lovett and Hiatt, and emphasize their lyrics and technical abilities. Lovett has won four Grammy awards, and has had an active music career since 1980. A wide variety of musical influences are apparent in his work, however it’s most often in the country and folk genre. John Hiatt began working in the record industry at young age, and released his first single in 1974. He has recorded over 24 albums, and has been nominated for nine Grammy awards. Hiatt has more apparent blues and Americana influences, but both artists have experimented in many styles over their long careers.

This two month long North American tour celebrates the success, collaboration and friendship of these amazing performers. With decades of touring under their belts individually, this joint tour  offers audiences a more intimate experience with huge country music icons. This an acoustic show in Olympia for one night only, and is not to be missed.
