Roebuck, who’s lived in Olympia for over a decade, has not only attended Lakefair but served as part of the festival staff. “I actually worked at Lakefair last year, which was fun,” she says. As a Lakefair princess, Roebuck’s always looking to meet people and make connections with service organizations. A standout memory from her tenure thus far was volunteering at a dance for special-needs children. “I think one of the things being a Lakefair princess means to me,” she says, “is stepping out of my comfort zone and making connections and learning a lot about our community and giving my time to things I didn’t think I would before. [I’m] learning how it feels to volunteer.”
After high school, Roebuck plans on traveling and volunteering before she studies environmental science or teaching at a university.
