Meet This Year’s Lakefair Court: Princess Cassidy Walchak-Sloan

By Molly Walsh

“I remember one time,” Walchak-Sloan says, “me and my friend were maybe eight years old, and her babysitter took us to Lakefair. At the fair, it was a big thing to go on the Ferris wheel and look down and see all of Lakefair. It was really big and there’s a lot of people there, so it was kind of cool to see the entire community.”

Having visited Lacey Sunrise Lions, Tumwater Rotary and Zonta Club of Olympia among others, Walchak-Sloan loves getting to know members of each organization. She also enjoys riding a float through numerous Main Street parades. “They’re really fun,” she says. “There’s something about being on the float and waving, and we all have choreographed dance moves. And the little kids see you and get super excited. It’s my favorite.”
