Olympia audiences will be treated to the world premiere of an evening with nationally renowned Native American Comedy Storytellers appearing on the Washington Center Mainstage on Saturday, November 5, before launching on a national tour.
“Some Stars of Native American Comedy (aka Some Stars)” features four Native American comedy storytellers carrying on the Native American trickster tradition, sharing their comedic take on life as filmmakers, script writers, directors, and comedians.
The Washington Center has featured stand-up comedy for years, but “Some Stars” represents the Center’s first evening of all-Indigenous comedians.

The all-star team of comedic storytellers includes: Jim Ruel, whose work can be seen on “Goin’ Native: No Reservations Needed,” Taietsarón:sere, writer and actor of Peacock’s hit TV show “Rutherford Falls,” Gilbert Brown, comedian, wild horse rodeo cowboy, Pow Wow MC, and Sheila Chalakee, a comedian/director/writer whose work is seen on Amazon Prime, PBS, Univision, E! Network and FNX.
Their distinctive approaches transform issues facing Native people today into witty characters, crafted anecdotes and delightful asides, making them the trickster heroes of their own stories. Together they create an unforgettable, hilarious evening that will have you rolling in your seats asking, “How did Gilbert Brown, a.k.a. short-bird, get his middle finger bit off by a horse?”
