Theater Artists Olympia Presents The Half-life of Marie Curie by Lauren Gunderson

In 1911, Marie Curie wins the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of radium and polonium. By 1912, she is the object of nationwide ridicule, all but erasing her achievements, when the press discovers her affair with a married scientist. Branded a foreign temptress and homewrecker, Marie is left reeling until her friend, engineer and suffragette Hertha Ayrton convinces Marie to retreat to a safe haven on the British coast.
The Half-life of Marie Curie revels in the power of a female friendship that spanned 30 years, as it explores the relationship between these two brilliant women, both of whom are mothers, widows, and fearless champions of scientific inquiry.
