Art Story: Reflection of an Artist Couple at Tacoma Community College

Painters David Noah Giles and CJ Swanson, who, after 33 years as a married couple, are having their first two-person exhibition this month. The show runs Jan. 2-30. It is titled: Art Story: Reflection of an Artist Couple. It can be seen in The Art Gallery at Tacoma Community College. “This exhibition will give the viewer some insight into two artists’ lives together,” Swanson said. She and her husband view their experience to be similar to the experiences of other artist couples such as Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg, Elaine and Willem de Kooning and others who came before them in art history.

TCC Gallery Celebrates Black Art at 3rd Annual Exhibition

Expressed in a wide range of media – from glass to collage, print, paint, drawing and digital – the 3rd Annual Black Artists Exhibition at Tacoma Community College through March 7th is a dynamic and brightly hued exhibit. The overall feel of the show is vibrant, uplifting and as refreshing as a dip in a clear pool.

Missing Women and Missing Parents at Tacoma Community College

Lynette Charters, now showing through the end of January at the gallery at Tacoma Community College is having fun setting the record straight. “The Matildas are the joyful part,” she said. “The Missing Women series poses the question of why women aren’t included in exhibitions and museums and history, but the Matildas are all about what women achieve and how important their achievements are.”
