Illuminate Pride: A Celebration of Diversity and Community
Illuminate Pride is an immersive one-day festival that merges the vibrant LGBTQIA2S+ community with the creative energy of the city hosted by Capital City Pride, WildTiny Productions, and Lucy ElleBalls Productions. Festival highlights include a Pride Gathering, Artistic Light Installations, Cultural Showcases, Workshops & Panels, Pride Market, Fashion Show, and a Family Zone. Activities will be held in the drill hall, lower level and lawn areas. Attendees can use the Eastside St SE main building entrance or the Legion Way SE and Quince St SE gate entrance. Event is free, open to the public, all ages, and ADA accessible. Street and metered parking available, as well as overflow parking at Madison Elementary across the street.

What are Arts Interventions?
The City of Olympia has been selected to receive a $75,000 Our Town award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the Armory Creative Campus – Arts Interventions and Facility Design. This is one of 51 grants nationwide in this category to support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes; ultimately laying the groundwork for systems change and centering equity.

The City of Olympia, The Bridge Music Project and PARC Foundation of Thurston County are collaborating to launch an Arts Interventions and Facility Design Phase in 2023, part of a multi-year plan to support the transformation of the Olympia Armory as a Creative Campus. The purpose of the project is to engage artists, culture bearers, and a youth action council to lead in reimagining possible uses of the space through temporary art installations and creative pop-up projects to inform facility design. Nine projects were selected through a public call and will take place during the month of July representing a wide range of art forms and experiences.
