Author Alan Lessik Book Talk
October 26 at 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm PDT

Alan Lessik will be talking about his latest book “Make the Dark Night Shine” on Thursday October 26 at 7:00 PM in the Abigail Stuart House, 1002 Washington Street SE, Olympia. Described as “Part travelogue, part history, part romance and part Zen meditation”, the book is inspired by his family story of his Aunt Nina Friedberg Uchida; a love letter from a father to the daughter he searched for but never met.
Peppered with many love stories–between men, friends, and family–it is more than anything, an examination of queerness not seen often in Western literature and a love story with the shifting, wandering self.
Alan Lessik is a member of the Berlin Queer Writers Circle, Zen practitioner, amateur figure skater, and LGBT activist. With an interest in how novels preserve queer culture, he has been published on this and other topics by Lambda Literary, the Bay Area Reporter, and Advocate. His debut novel the Troubleseeker was short-listed for the Publishing Triangle’s 2017 Ferr-Grumley Award for LGBTQ Fiction. writer.lessik@gmail.com
