Community Stomp! & FELT Dance Party
Saturday July 22 (4 – 8pm)
Join Janice Arnold and her creative team on the Armory lawn to make Felt together — step by step — with music by Bruce Whitney. Bring a lawn chair to watch and listen, or kick off your shoes and prepare to get a little wet as we saturate huge wool layups with warm water and begin walking on them (4-6pm) to compress and agitate the fibers into Felt! As the fibers enmesh and the material becomes stronger, we’ll transition to dance music (6-8pm). At the end of the evening, the felt “dance floor” will be strong enough to roll up and take to the JA Felt Studio to complete the felting process. Imagine all that can be done with this colorful Felt created by Olympia’s own hands (and feet!) and filled with our collective efforts, stories and experiences.
