I SPY: The Secret Museum

I SPY is for the kid in all of us. A special exhibition created by the Harbor History Museum detective squad, I SPY: The Secret Museum is a journey through the little-seen collection areas of the Harbor History Museum. Inspired by the much-loved I SPY books, we decided to apply the idea to our own museum collection. From tools to shoes, hats, toys, and pins, you’ll be transported to other times and places. Don’t miss this chance to be the first to see this fun and mind-teasing exhibit. Can you find all the objects listed in eighteen I SPY challenges? Come and test your powers of observation. The exhibit covers the range of “everyday” objects found in the Harbor History Museum collection, from hats to shoes, children’s toys to castaway treasures found at the bottom of Gig Harbor. There are 18 different challenges for visitors young and old in the 1000 sq ft special exhibition gallery. With a focus on local history, long timers will delight in recognizing some old favorites: a hand painted Tides Tavern sign, a truck signboard for Spadoni’s Flying A fuel, and even old buttons and hats from Harbor Holidays, the precursor to the Maritime Gig Festival. With I Spy challenges for nearly every interest and skill set, the exhibit is sure to intrigue all who enter.
