The Esoterics
March 26, 2023 at 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm PDT
The Esoterics will be performing, Villains and Heroes, Messiahs false and true, at St. John’s Episcopal Church (19th & Capitol Way, Olympia) Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 3 PM. Two brand-new choral compositions by the Los Angeles-based composer, Rex Isenberg, will be performed.
The first piece, If we have wisdom, is based on a letter by George Washington to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1790. The second piece, Messiahs false and true, explores the “messianic leader” throughout human history, rising during times of crisis or cultural upheaval when societies tend to gravitate toward those individuals who promise salvation and elevate them to power. This second piece is composed for choir with accompaniment of organ and percussion as well as a spoken oratorio.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://theesoterics.org/2023, $20 General Admission or $15 Students and Seniors plus a small processing fee. Or tickets may be purchased at the door.
