AUDITION INFO: Who’s in Bed with the Butler? An American Farce
Auditions will be held Sunday, September 10 @ 6:00PM and Monday, September 11 @ 7:00PM in the OLT annex
Rehearsals will begin September 13
PERFORMANCE DATES: October 20 – November 5, 2023
PLAY SYNOPSIS: Something funny is happening at the Olden mansion in the heart of wine country. The deceased owner has left some valuable bequests to three of his more attractive girlfriends and his daughter and heir is determined to fight. She has hired a shady lawyer and the clumsiest private detective ever to get to the bottom of it. Can the loyal butler be behind it all and what about the deaf housekeeper and her mysterious friend Oscar?
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS (ages shown are playable ages): All roles are open
CLIFTON (Male 30-50): The quintessential butler, impeccable manners with just the hint of larceny and a sense of humor
AGNES (Female 40-70): The housekeeper, has a hearing problem (she turns off her hearing aid to save batteries)
SUSIE (Female 25-45) Professional actress in need of a job. Is hired to play Clifton’s wife. Bright cheerful and attractive.
RENEE* (Female 20-40) Sultry French woman
JOSEPHINE* (Female 20-40) Lovely English woman
MARJORIE* (Female 20-40) California Girl
*The Playwright’s intention is to have one actor play all three women
CONNIE (Female 30-60) daughter of the deceased, very business like, no nonsense and rather severe.
VANCE (Male or female 30-70) Shady lawyer type, suspicious of everyone
DAVIS (Male 20-50) Private detective, a total clutz who trips over everything and gets knocked out by several doors. This role requires some minor physical stunts.
Auditions will be cold readings, no preparation necessary.
